1.AVI Files that won't playback
Posted by Chuck on 2/19/2005 3:24:40 AM

Several users have experienced problems with the AVI files created by Memento.

There are several things that can cause the resulting AVI file to not be playable.
If you have experienced any instances of Yahoo crashing, you must first resolve this. See the post "Troubleshooting Yahoo crashes" at http://www.bluejeansoftware.com/BJSForum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=69
After fixing the crashes, verify that recorded AVI files are still not playable.
2.Trial extension, Version 1.4.1 to 1.4.2
Posted by Chuck on 9/9/2004 3:10:56 AM
If you are still using 1.4.1, when you upgrade to 1.4.2 the trial period will be reset.
That is to say the 15 day trial of version 1.4.2 starts when it is installed, regardless of previous versions.

Memento LE is distributed as a single .ZIP file containing the files required for setup.

The .ZIP file can be downloaded at:
http://www.bluejeansoftware.com/Downloads.htm.

Extract the .ZIP archive into a directory on your computer. Support for .ZIP file extraction is built into Windows XP.
If you're using Windows 98, 2000 or NT, you can download WinZip at
4.Known Issues

1. When using Yahoo Messenger 6.0 or later and you have YOUR web cam tranmitting video, your own web cam will show up as a remote session. Attempts to record YOUR video will cause an exception. This will be addressed in release 1.4.2.

Currently Memento LE only records video.

Voice chat combined with video (in the same AVI) is planned for a future release.

Hi,
Yes this is part of the software that senses the number of days that it has been used (the trial version expires after 15 days).
If you send an email to tech@bluejeansoftware.com we can generate a "clock fix" key that will fix this problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

This error is caused by adjusting the system clock during the trial period (see post just above yours).
Send an email to tech@bluejeansoftware.com with "Report code CCB-F" in the subject line and we can send you a "clock fix" code that will allow the trial to continue.

Most certainly NOT !

Once you purchase one of our products, you are licensed to for all future upgrades unless a considerable number of new features have been added. Then we will offer that product to prior licensees at a considerably lower cost.

There's no need to purchase the license (key # you recieved in a regnow email) for the two you purchased unless you wish to use it on yet a third computer.

We will start the open beta toward the end ...

Interesting. Most users that have had playback problems have this problem in reverse. Usually uncompressed video plays fine. You seem to have the opposite problem.
If you renamed any DLLs you should reboot afterwards.

To salvage the video you already have, you may want to try Video Fixer. Several users have indicated that this tool can fix the videos that won't play. You can download the trial version here:

An MPEG codec will give you the best quality.
Microsoft's is free (see above link).
Make sure the codec has 'MPEG' in its' name.

That is uncompressed video.
I thought you said uncompressed video did not work ?

Usually Yahoo crashes can be fixed by following the directions in this post:
http://www.bluejeansoftware.com/BJSForum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=69
I believe you've tried most of the suggestions there.

It sounds like some of your system files may have been changed by something you installed.

When you have some time, you should try opening up a Command window (DOS box) and running the command: sfc /SCANNOW

Have your XP CD handy because ...

There's several resources for fixing C00D1199 errors in that post.

The C00D1199 error generally means that you have encoded (captured and compressed) the video with certain codec that is not available for decoding (playback).

GSpot will help you ...

I tried to reply to your email but your inbox was full.
Here's the text of the message:

I guess that you could hold on to the file until you have a chance to do another capture and then try to repair it. Unless we get to the root of the problem, it too may be corrupt. We’ve had a lot of downloads (more than 10,000) and only a handful of people have experienced corrupt files.

I’m curious as to what happened out of the ordinary, if anything, when you ...

If sounds like the file is corrupt.

Did anything unusual or odd happen while you were recording that specific file ?

You should stop all recording before closing Memento. Not stoping recording can result in corrupt AVI files from time to time. This is a bug we are fixing in the next release (due soon after Thanksgiving, 2004).

When record using the uncompressed format no codec is used or needed.
17.Solution to C00D1199 errors.
Posted by Chuck on 11/10/2004 12:40:44 AM
Try a utility callled 'GSpot' to help you determine which codec was used to encode the video and, hopefully, track down the right decoder.
GSpot is available here.
Instructions on how to use GSpot to get the right codec you need as well as some great AVI troubleshooting tips can be found here.

I hope this helps.

If the video has a size greater than zero, it may be recoverable.
You might try a Google search for "AVI Repair Utility". There are plenty of utilities out there that you can try. I can't recommend any specific utiliity.

As of this posting (2/18/05) there have been more than 50,000 download of Memento LE and the majority of the users have had no problems. However a handful of users have experienced Yahoo messenger crashes while using Memento. There are several things that can cause this problem. The post below will help you determine the cause and offers several steps that may clear the problem.

Each time Yahoo crashed, we recommend a reboot to fully clear memory before trying to record again. ...
