Corrupt AVI file
Posted: 28 Nov 2005 02:15 PM
Well, I just downloaded this software two weeks ago. I read all previous posts regarding file corruption and realize there are still problems with the software. :(

Sadly for me, a once in a lifetime opportunity to record a very important person on camera ended with 17 MB of compressed video that can't be even recognized as an AVI file. No fixer program or decoder or even gspot were able to recognize the file as an AVI file! :((((( whyyyyyyy????? why me??????

I recorded the video using the DIVX compression which I had already tested with a short video to make sure it would work. So after ending the web cam session with said individual, I selected the video session on Memento and clicked stop. Everything seemed to have worked fine, so I then, closed the Memento program with the Close button. However, I soon noticed that the window that opens up for the DIVX compression tool was still open, and that window does not have a close button or the Close window "x" square at the top-right of the screen, I can't remember if it has the 'X' or not, but I was not able to close that window. Everything else was working fine; I was still chatting with the same person on yahoo messenger and another friend; Memento had closed fine, but that DIVX compression window would not close. I had to use the TaskManager to terminate the program forcedly. I had a bad feeling in my stomach that the file would be corrupted by that stupid window that would not close, and I truly tried everything within my powers to close the window gracefully but all to no avail.

Is there anything I can do????? Is there anyone who can help????? I would even settle for extracting a few still images from the AVI file if there is anyone out there who can help me :'((

Now, I'm just a sad chick, with a program I bought for that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; a program I will probably never use again, and a corrupt file that keeps staring at me everytime I turn on my computer :'(

A sad day indeed :(
